UPPER LID BLEPHAROPLASTY

Patients undergo this procedure to improve their peripheral vision, to relieve the weight on their corneas caused by excess skin, and to improve the symptoms of "tired eyes".

These procedures are done in our state-of-the-art surgery center where our patients are given IV sedation and discharged after as little as 1 - 2 hours.
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is performed through a skin crease incision, through which excess fat can be removed if necessary. There are two fat pads in the upper lid, the medial and central.

Post-operatively, there is swelling, bruising, redness in and around the eyes, discharge and tenderness.  Patients are instructed to apply an antibiobic ointment to the suture line and to apply crushed ice for a 24-hour period.  There is little or no pain involved.

Everyone heals differently but most patients see marked improvement immediately, though another 7-14 days makes an even more dramatic difference.  By 6 weeks, the patient is technically “surgically” healed.
